Questions for class

Filed under: Questions — Tags: — captainchunk @ 10:55 pm

1. Is the US patent system a good way to protect innovation? If not, what would be a good way to protect innovation and what impact would this have on innovation and the innovators?

2. Are disruptive technologies bound to succeed? Could the telegraph have done more to stop the telephone? Why does it seem like some technologies are inevitably going to succeed?

3. Can old technologies still have a place in current society like the turntable? Why would this happen?

  1. Brian, these are still “closed-ended” questions!!

    Here’s one rewrite (3)
How might old technologies like the turntable contribute to society even as they are supplanted by newer technologies like the CD player?

    OR

What are some factors that prevent a newer technology (eg, CD players) from completely supplanting an older technology (eg, turntables)?

Tacking on “why” or “how” at the end of a string — or having multiple questions such as (2) — makes it look like the questions are “first draft” or off-the-top of your head.
